Accessible Whale Watching

Hervey Bay is known as the "whale watching capital". From the end of July until early November the Bay is the playground of the majestic humpback whale. Each year the whales rest and play in our sheltered waters before continuing their migration to Antarctica with their new calves.
To see these gentle giants rolling, breaching and tail slapping is an unforgettable experience. While watching the humpbacks, you'll probably spot the dolphins, dugongs and turtles that make their home in Hervey Bay all year round.
Of course we have whale and dolphin watching tours that offer easy access and viewing for people with a disability. The vessels below are designed for wheelchair-users, but many of the other boats in the whale watch fleet are also suitable for people with a disability that is not mobility-related.

Quick Cat II was launched June 2003 for whale watching cruises which Brian & Jill Perry started in 1987. It is a 17 meter luxury catamaran carrying a maximum of 80 passengers. Quick Cat II operates half day cruises every day from mid July - early November. All trips guarantee whale sightings. Morning / afternoon tea of home made muffins & danishes is provided and Quick Cat II is fully licensed. Pies, sausage rolls, hot dogs, etc. can be purchased on board.
