National Parks

... breathtaking scenery

The Fraser Coast is surrounded by beautiful mainland and island National Parks.

The most famous of the region’s National Parks is the Great Sandy Strait National Park, which includes Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world with unique ecological values and wide variety of flora and fauna, and the Cooloola section, stretching from Rainbow Beach to Noosa.

Lady Elliot Island and Lady Musgrave Island, the first islands of the Great Barrier Reef, are also zoned as National Parks, with commercial leases operating under strict environmental guidelines.

National Parks nestle into much of the Fraser Coast shoreline, from the Burrum Coast National Park around Woodgate Beach and Burrum Heads to the Poona National Park south of Maryborough.

Check with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service for a full range of activities and facilities at these National Parks.
