Theebine

...bygone glory

Just a few kilometres off the Bruce Highway, between Tiaro and Gympie, is the tiny township of Theebine, which is dominated by the gloriously-restored Theebine Hotel, a popular locale for daytrippers and weekenders.

Set in the foothills of the Gunalda Ranges, Theebine originally serviced the busy railway junction, which was a gateway to the South Burnett. The pub was built in 1909, and, not surprisingly, was first known as the Junction Hotel. Its magnificent Queensland-style architecture is a reminder of the glory days of this small community.  Not only does the Theebine Hotel attract visitors, but the monthly Country Days in the town draws people from Brisbane and beyond.
