Lady Musgrave Island
... fascinating combination
Lady Musgrave Island and Lagoon lies north-west of Lady Elliot Island, a 14-hectare true coral cay, surrounded by 1,192 hectares of spectacular reef. This unspoilt island rests on the edge of a coral-fringed lagoon measuring eight kilometres in circumference, a unique combination not found anywhere else along the entire length of the Great Barrier Reef. This aquatic playground boasts over 1,200 varieties of vibrantly coloured fish and over 200 species of coral. In fact, many scuba divers nominate Lady Musgrave as one of their favourite dive sites in the world.
Day cruise vessels to Lady Musgrave Island depart from Bundaberg and The Town of 1770, which offer snorkelling, coral viewing, guided island walks, scuba diving and much more.
The island is part of the Bunker Capricorn Group and the surrounding reef and waters are designated as a Marine Park. Camping on the island is allowed, but a permit must be obtained from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service before arriving on the island.
