Great Barrier Reef

Just a scenic 35-minute flight from Hervey Bay Airport lies one of the most amazing natural wonders of the world, the Great Barrier Reef.

This awesome, long-stretching conglomerate of individual reefs is a must-see for any visitors, and Lady Elliot Island and Lady Musgrave Island, two natural coral cays, are the most southerly sections of the Great Barrier Reef, and the closest to Queensland’s capital city, Brisbane.

Nature lovers will be exhilarated by Lady Elliot and Lady Musgrave Islands. Below the water, the water clarity and visibility are brilliant, and the corals and fish are simply breathtaking. Above water, migratory birds from around the world flock to the islands to nest and breed. And from November to April, large turtles make their annual pilgrimage to the islands to lay their eggs… the turtle hatching season is an event you’ll never forget!

With less people to jostle with, less traveling time, and sites the equal of anything else on the Great Barrier Reef, Lady Elliot Island and Lady Musgrave Island are fast becoming popular with serious divers and snorkellers wanting to escape the crowds.
