Burrum Coast

A short distance north of Hervey Bay and Maryborough lays a diverse range of coastal communities and rural towns that capture the true pioneering spirit and laidback lifestyle of the Fraser Coast region. The Burrum Coast National Park is great for bushwalks.

Torbanlea

Torbanlea is one of the small historic towns located on the Bruce Highway, north of Maryborough. The Burrum Mining Museum houses over 4,400 items of memorabilia in 11 buildings. The museum provides an insight into the history of the area, when coal mining drove the local economy.

Howard

A few kilometres north of Torbanlea, Howard has several buildings of historical significance. Howard’s small museum tells of the coal mining and farming history of the area and includes war memorabilia. There is a couple of great swimming and fishing spots to enjoy on the nearby Burrum River. Accommodation includes a delightful bed and breakfast.

Toogoom

Toogoom is a small seaside community about 15 minutes drive from Hervey Bay. This picturesque area is the perfect spot to indulge in a week of relaxing by the water, with unspoilt beaches, great fishing, wildlife, bird watching, tea gardens and a waterfront restaurant.

Burrum Heads

Just 30 minutes drive from Hervey Bay, Burrum Heads is a popular holiday destination, with many visitors returning annually for the peace and tranquillity of this coastal village. Explore rivers and creeks by boat or canoe, or take advantage of the clear warm water for great fishing. Rental house accommodation is available through local real estate agents, or stay at beachfront caravan parks.
